Instructions for waste disposal/sorting

Sorting instructions

Waste collected at the local recycling points and shopping centre yards

Into the waste paper collection bin…

  • newspapers and magazines, ad leaflets, telephone directories, unusable books (remove leather and plastic covers)

… do not place!

  • wet or dirty paper (place it into the mixed household waste bin)
  • milk cartons, cardboard, cardboard boxes and brown kraft paper (take them to the “eco” points at the shopping centres)
  • plasticized paper

Into the glass collection bin…

  • glass jars, non-deposit glass bottles with labels

… do not place!

  • any bottle neck rings, china, ceramics, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, window panes, windscreens or glass pans

Into the yellow liquid package containers…

  • milk and juice cartons rinsed, dried and flattened

…do not place!

  • dirty and unrinsed cartons (place them into the mixed household waste bin)
  • dry food cardboard and paper packages, e.g. cereal packages, paper bags for flour (place them into the mixed household waste bin)

Into the green cardboard collection containers

  • cardboard boxes flattened, corrugated cardboard, brown cardboard, kraft paper, brown envelopes

…do not place!

  • wet or dirty paper (place it into the mixed household waste bin)
  • plastic, polystyrene (place it into the mixed household waste bin)

 

Into the metal collection bin…

  • tins and cans, lids, clean convenience food cans, drink cans, old saucepans and kettles and small hardware pieces

…do not place!

  • big metal objects (take them to the metal scrap dealer’s or to the refuse dump)
  • household batteries (take them into the battery collection box)
  • batteries (take the battery to the shop where you purchased it or to the hazardous waste disposal point)
  • TV sets, household appliances (take them to the refuse dump)

 

Organic waste and recyclable items

Into the composting unit or organic waste bin…

everything that is organic, such as food waste, guts, coffee grounds, fruit and vegetable scraps

  • tea bags, filter papers, kitchen paper, paper napkins
  • egg shells, cardboard egg boxes
  • green garden waste, plant soil

…do not place!

  • plastic carrier bags, plastic bags
  • liquids
  • glass or metal
  • textiles, leather
  • milk cartons
  • vacuum cleaner dust bags, cigarette butts
  • hazardous waste

To the clothes collection…

  • usable, clean clothes, home textiles, shoes, toys, belts

…do not place!

  • ragged and dirty clothes (place them into the mixed household waste bin)

To the flee market, second-hand shops…

  • usable furniture and clothes, dishes and household appliances

To the tyre shops

  • used tyres without rims

 

Waste taken to the hazardous waste disposal collection

Hevossuo waste disposal site

  • fluorescent tubes, paints, varnish, glues, solvents, batteries, oils, pesticides, other chemicals, household batteries

Hevossuo waste disposal site, Kuusakoski Oy or Rauman Seudun Ympäristöhuolto Oy…

  • TV sets, PC monitors, refrigerators and freezers, electric and electronic scrap

To the pharmacy

  • mercury thermometers and medicines
