Day care
In Rauma, families can select either communal or private day-care, day-care supported by the municipality or private family operated day-care. Day care is monitored, whether it is offered by the town or a private service provider. Smaller children are usually placed in family-operated day care and older children in day-care centres.
Day care is offered in the form of a full-day or half-day service. If necessary, evening, weekend and night-time care is also provided.
We aim to fulfil any request for day care within two weeks from the need for day care becoming apparent in line with regulations. In other cases an application for a day care place should be sent four months before the care is to begin.
Day-care application forms are available at the day-care centres and the day-care office, at Kalliokatu 1.
A fee is charged for day care provided by the town. The amount is determined based on family size and income.
Rauma’s department of social services has, in co-operation with other authorities, published a guide called Services for Families with Children in Rauma.
