Pre-school educationPre-school education in line with the Basic Education Act is provided for six-year-olds four hours a day. Pre-school education is voluntary and free of charge. The aim of pre-school education in Rauma is to support the child's learning and overall development through education methods that harness the power of play in the context of a peer group. Pre-school education, day care and basic education together form a complete educational entity supporting growth and learning in a way that is positive for the child. Registering for pre-school education is possible annually in March. If a child requires an one-hour day-care service in addition to pre-school, it is free. If the need for day-care exceeds an hour a day, 60% of the full day-care fee is charged. For full-day care reserved for the pre-school holiday period, the full day-care fee is charged. The person responsible for pre-school education is the regional director, Marja-Leena Kempas tel. (02) 834 4586. Updated: 27.10.2005 |
