Äijänsuo Sports Centre

The Äijänsuo Sports Centre, located in the centre of town, offers room for a large crowd and facilities for mass events. The town centre is only 800 metres away. Äijänsuo has approximately 1,500 users per day.

1. Indoor ice-skating rink

The skating rink serves as a competition and practice arena for ice hockey, ice-bandy, ringette, and figure skating. It is also suitable for fairs and concerts. The stands hold some 5,000 people. Finnish ice-hockey championship matches are played here. The hall has a kiosk and restaurant. Dressing room are located in the hall and in the Äijänsuo maintenance building.

2. Indoor ice-skating practice rink

Ice hockey, ice bandy, ringette, and figure skating practice occurs in the practice rink. The hall is also suitable for events such as fairs and concerts. The indoor ice-skating practice rink is host to public skating events (no sticks allowed) on Thursdays between 6.45 p.m. and 7.45 p.m. and on Sundays between 11.45 a.m. and 12.45 p.m. The stands hold 500 people. The hall has four dressing rooms. This hall offers no restaurant services.

3. Winter practice hall

The winter practice hall was completed in the spring of 2004. The hall has artifical turf. This hall offers facilities for football and baseball, various athletic events, American football, archery, boccia, petanque, and golf. The hall has eight dressing rooms. This hall is excellent for fairs and exhibitions.

4. Heated and floodlit artificial pitch
(using sand and rubber granules)

The main users are footballers. The pitch can also be used for large public events. The stands hold approximately 800 people and there is a kiosk. The size of the field is 64 x 105 m. Dressing rooms are located in the Äijänsuo maintenance building.

5. Public swimming pool

The swimming pool offers facilities for swimming, diving, water aerobics, scuba diving and underwater sports. A 25-metre pool, a rehabilitation and diving pool, a children's pool, a waterslide, and two Jacuzzis are available. The stands hold 300 people. The pool offers cafeteria/restaurant services. Physical therapy and lymph therapy are also available. The pool is open every day.
