“Life in the Sailing Ship Era”
Exhibition in the Town Hall vitrines (Kanalinranta 3, 1st floor) 7-28
April 2006.
Letters and postcards used to be the most common means of communication
between seamen and their relatives and friends ashore. Keeping in touch was
difficult and time-consuming. Poor postal services kept sailor’s close
relatives in constant uncertainty about his fate.
Life in the Sailing Ship Era exhibition tries to tell us what it
was like to live as a seaman in the sailing ship era. At the same time, the
exhibition gives an overview of the era itself.
Rauma Town Hall vitrines (Kanalinranta 3, 1st floor)
from 7 April to 28 April 2006
Open on Mon, Wed and Thu at 8-16, on Tue at 8-17 and on Fri at 8-15.
