Rauma, Pori, Tampere and Turku have joined together to publish a brochure on their cities intended for foreign OL3 employees

Rauma, Pori, Tampere and Turku have worked in close collaboration in city travel marketing by producing a common 24-page brochure directed at the foreign employees working for TVO’s third nuclear power plant construction project. The purpose is also to attract those potential OL3 builders who are still considering whether to come to Finland. For this reason, the brochure is called “Destination Olkiluoto” and its general appearance is of Scandinavian lucidity.

The brochure project started on the initiative of the French Ambassador, Jean-Jacques Subrenat. He suggested that it should include a lot of information on different events, tourism and leisure activities to help foreign workers and their families, especially the French, feel at home in the region.

The brochure covers the history of Finland in brief and presents the Finnish way of life through our national festivities. In addition, each city presents itself, describing local sights and major events in the calendar. The Finnish landscape and seasons are also well represented.

This edition is of 2000 copies in English, 1000 in French and 1000 in German. It will be handed to OL3 employees and through the embassies, to potential employees. The cities’ tourist offices will also stock copies.

In support of the brochure, the cities have opened an event calendar in English on the Internet (www.citycalendar.fi) where one can find information on current events in Rauma, Pori and Uusikaupunki. The calendar has links to the Tampere and Turku websites, which in turn have their own event calendars in English.

The brochure project was realised by communication and marketing professionals in the four cities. Mainostoimisto Mercurius has been responsible for the graphic design, layout and general articles.
