Living in World Heritage and Community Involvement

Annual Nordic World Heritage Conference, 11.-14. September 2017 in Rauma, Finland

The city of Rauma is honoured to host the 2017 Nordic World Heritage Conference. The conference is organised in the immediate vicinity of World Heritage site Old Rauma.

The themes of the conference are Living in World Heritage and Community Involvement. The conference gives emphasis to sharing examples of the challenges World Heritage sites have encountered, as well as the best practices to resolve different difficulties. Getting local stakeholders involved is in a key position.

Guided walking tours in Old Rauma and a cocktail event on 11th of September make it worth arriving already on Monday. The main conference days are Tuesday 12th of September and Wednesday 13th of September. An excursion to the nearby World Heritage site, the Bronze Age burial site Sammallahdenmäki, is organised on Wednesday. The post-excursion is organised on 14th of September. The excursion introduces the most significant attractions of Alvar Aalto in Western Finland.

We warmly welcome you to Rauma in September 2017!
