The
Finnish
Higher Education system is comprised of Universities and Polytechnics
(University of Applied Sciences)).
Scientific research and the tuition on which it is based is the mainstay of
Universities. Polytechnics provide
work-related
education which suits the needs of
labour market.
In
Universities which are academic or artistic institutions, you can study for
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, as well as continue to Licentiate and
Doctoral Degrees.
Polytechnic degree programmes last between 3.5 and 4.5 years. The requirements
for Polytechnic Master’s programmes are a Polytechnic degree or equivalent,

in Rauma (ROKL) part of The Faculty of Education at The University of
Turku you can qualify as a
pre-school teacher, kindergarten teacher, specialised kindergarten teacher,
class teacher, handicrafts’ teacher (wood and metal work), take a Master’s
degree in pedagogics (early childhood education), and study for further
scientific degrees (Licentiate and Doctorate).
