The tasks of Satakunta University of Applied Sciences include education, applied research and development as well as regional development. Research and development is carried out in intensive interaction with companies and corporations, and is also part of education and learning.

The research and development activities are designed to serve industry and commerce, to generate new innovations and to improve the transfer of expertise for the purpose of promoting the welfare and employment of the region and its companies, corporations and inhabitants. The promotion of entrepreneurship is a special priority area in this respect.

Satakunta University of Applied Sciences participates extensively in local, national and international research and development projects of different sizes and types. The implementation of these projects involves SAMK's experts, researchers, teachers and students, depending on the needs and nature of the particular project.
