The Rauma Archipelago

The Rauma Archipelago is a “wilderness” within a stone’s throw from the urban Rauma.  The archipelago reaches out about 10 km from the shore.  There are “south-western Finnish” rocky shores in the archipelago, but most distinguishing are first of all large wooded islands and outer sea gravel islets.  A part of the archipelago is a network of sheltered long straits.

The nature of the Rauma Archipelago is interesting.  Mostly groves or birdlife are the grounds for the protection.

It is planned that the Rauma Archipelago were the central part of the Rauma Sea National Park .  The other name alternative would be the Selkämeri National Park .  The plan includes besides the nature protection also the development of its service network so that the public has good possibilities to camp in the area
