Exchange programme

The municipalities Næstved (Denmark), Rauma (Finland), Gjøvik (Norway), Gävle (Sweden) and Bessastadahreppur (Iceland) have established an exchange programme with twinning towns.

The towns host official visits from other twinning towns, where political and administrative representatives from each town participate. The reponsibility for hosting changer every other year. Connections are made, useful knowledge is shared and people discuss issues of mutual interest.

Examples of themes are education, health and environment in local regions, tourism, development of industry, sports and culture, in addition to information technology and the Internet.
