The next elections to the European Parliament (European elections) will be held in all Member States of the European Union in 2024. The elections take place during a four-day election period. Each Member State shall hold the elections during the said period in accordance with its national legislation.

Under the EU legislation governing the elections, the Council may decide to move the date of the elections so that it is at most two months earlier or one month later than the period established under the legislation.

Elections to the European Parliament are held in the Member States according to their national election legislation. In addition to this the provisions of the Election Act of the EU (stipulated in 1976, latest amendments in 2002) are followed.

Elections are held every fifth year in every Member State at the same time.

A prerequisite for the right to vote is, however, that the person enrolls with the voting register in Finland 80 days before election day to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. To enroll to the voting register you can use the form for registration of the right to vote.
