An employee of Papinpelto daycare center diagnosed with a Covid-infection

Attention Grey

An employee of Papinpelto daycare center was diagnosed with a Covid-infection on Thursday 11 March. The employee was working in the kindergarten asymptomatically during the period on infection on Monday 8 March and Tuesday 9 March. The source of the infection is known and it does not come from the kindergarten.

17 children and 6 other employees have been exposed. They are placed into quarantine for 14 days.

The matter has been notified to the guardians of the children of the daycare center as well as to the other employees. Healthcare officials will be in contact with the employees and guardians of the exposed children during Thursday.

The used spaces will be thoroughly cleaned. Otherwise the daycare center will continue to operate normally.

The quarantine does not apply to family members of the exposed and they can move freely. If a quarantined person gets sick they must be tested and then members of their family must wait for the test results at home.

When the quarantined person is a child, one of their parents can stay home and receive infectious disease allowance to compensate for loss of income, if working from home is not possible. There is no reason to test the asymptomatic. Getting tested will not shorten the quarantine.

The incubation period for covid-19 is usually 4 to 5 days, but can vary from 1 to 14. If the exposed person displays even mild symptoms, such as runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, loss of taste or smell or diarrhea in some cases, they must be tested immediately.
