Christmas in Rauma can be seen and heard during Rauma Lace Week

Rauma takes a head start into Christmas during Lace Week as Christmas in Rauma can be seen and heard in the programme of the city festival from the 23rd to the 31st of July. Christmas-themed raffles are also held on the VisitRauma Instagram page during the week.

Rauma-sweater parade is held on Sunday 24 July at 1 PM. The parade starts from Poselli and goes through Kauppatori and on to Tammela in Old Rauma. Anyone can participate in the parade by wearing their Rauma sweater.

A Lace Week workshop is in the yard of Tammela, where a knitting and counseling day is held after the parade from 1.30 PM to 4 PM. Crafts teacher Johanna Maijala is available to advise and help with problematic spots.

– Also present is the designer of the Rauma-sweater pattern, lace artist Tarmo Thorström and a representative from Ali-Unkki farm, which provides the yarn used in Rauma sweaters, culture producer Leila Stenfors says.

On Wednesday 27 July from 2 PM to 6 PM people can visit a Christmas Land on the ruins of the Church of the Holy Trinity. It is organized by the performance group Häplänperän Valittajat. The surrounding area will feature Christmasy elements and visitors are able to make their own decorations, glaze cookies and sing Christmas songs.

On Saturday 30 July from 1 PM to 4 PM children can make summer elves from natural materials in the Lace Week workshop in Tammela. Children can make for example a home elf, sauna elf, or a cottage elf, because elves live in Rauma all year round. The non stop workshop is directed by Minna Pihlainen.

The City of Rauma will hold three raffles during Lace Week on the @visitrauma Instagram page. Participants can win different Rauma-related prizes or one guided Christmas tour in Old Rauma. Winners will be contacted directly through Instagram messages after Lace Week on week 31.
