Mass exposure at WinNova Rauma

Attention light blue

Rauma Health Care Services has received information on Wednesday 11 August about the Covid infection of a student at WinNova Rauma in Steniuksenkatu. The student does not live in Rauma. 16 people have been exposed and they are in quarantine. In addition, 18 people will be sent to a Covid test but they are not in quarantine.

Among the exposed are both Rauma residents and people from other cities. The source of the infection is known and it does not come from WinNova.

The infection tracing of each hometown will contact all of those who are exposed and those who must be tested. The exposed people are in quarantine for 10 days from the last day of exposure. According to the insructions given by the Finnish institute for health and welfare the quarantine may be ended if the Covid test taken no earlier than 6 days after exposure is negative. Based on a negative test result, the doctor responsible for infectious diseases may make the decision to end the quarantine.

The most common incubation period for Covid infection is about 4 to 5 days but varies between 1 and 14 days. If the exposed person has even mild symptoms such as runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, odor or taste disturbance, or in some cases diarrhea, it is important to book an appointment for the test without any delay.
