More than 42 000 trips were made on Rauma Gyyt in June-July

Over 42 700 trips were made on the Rauma Gyyt local transit between 1 June and 31 July. This is many times higher than during the pandemic, when the average number of trips in summer was around 7 500. In the pre-pandemic years 2017-2019, Rauma’s public transport averaged around 12 000 trips.

The increased number of journeys is the result of a free public transport campaign in the summer, aimed at attracting Rauma residents and tourists to use the renewed local transport system.

– The summer season was an ideal time to try out the fare-free scheme, as student and business travel decreases significantly as the holiday season begins. The campaign was even more successful than expected, and the people of Rauma used Gyyti’s services in large numbers, says Mikael Saive, transport planner.

There has been a lot of positive feedback from users about the free summer campaign, and a possible continuation of the campaign will be discussed in the future.
