Rauma is in the acceleration stage in the coronavirus epidemic – regional mask recommendation in effect

The Satakunta regional infectious disease prevention team has decided to act proactively to the coronavirus situation in Rauma on Friday, 13 November. Doctor responsible for infectious diseases in Satakunta health care district Raija Uusitalo-Seppälä informed today that Rauma is in the acceleration stage of the coronavirus epidemic.

The infectivity rate number is 20,4 in Rauma and under 10 in rest the of Satakunta. The goal of the mask recommendation is to help sever possible chains of infection. Rauma and the Satakunta region infectious disease prevention team strongly recommend using masks in public indoor areas for everyone over 15 years-old.

The mask recommendation given given on Friday, 13 November has now been expanded to apply to all Rauma healthcare service clients. Using own personal masks is recommended like in Satasairaala. Locations are prepared to hand out masks to those who need them and to advise in proper use and disposal.

Social and healthcare services personnel will from now on wear masks in shared work areas. It is important that everyone keeps two meters social distance to each other.

The mask recommendations are in effect for the time being. The situation is monitored closely by the Satakunta regional infectious disease prevention team.

The City of Rauma distributes cloth masks

The City of Rauma is distributing two cloth masks per person for those in need who need to use public transportation or have to visit places where keeping safe distances may not be possible.

Distribution locations:

  • Welfare office, Kalliokatu 2, Monday to Friday 9-10 AM
  • Nurse and doctor reception, Steniuksenkatu 2, Monday to Friday 8 AM to 3 PM
  • Lappi Health Center, Wednesdays 1.30 – 2.30 PM

When visiting different social and healthcare units, customers can ask personnel for masks.
