Rauma’s 52nd Lace Week was celebrated in a warm atmosphere

Rauma Lace Week was held for the 52nd time from the 21st to the 31st of July. For the nine days the urban festival offered many kinds of events for people of all ages. There were concerts, exhibits, open yards and flea markets, competitions, work shops and children’s events. Dozens of individuals, associations and businesses helped to organize the events.

– After a long time we finally were able to finally have a proper, full scale Lace Week. The changes made this year have gathered thanks from participants. For example the exhibitions in Poselli, three days worth of concerts in Savilanpuisto and events aimed at young people have received a lot of positive feedback, says director of museums and culture Risto Kupari.

The Kalatori handicraft market also made its long-awaited return this year. The organizers are happy with the number of attendees through out the nine days.

– All in all the Lace Week went very well. The number of people who attended the different concerts and exhibitions really surprised us positively, culture producer Leila Stenfors says.

The concert area in Savilanpuisto park gathered thousands of spectators. In contrast to previous years, the program of the concert area ended already at ten o’clock.

– Attendance in the park briefly exceeded 5000, which is a record. We are very pleased that everything went so well with the arrangements. The no age limits and earlier start times have received a lot of praise from visitors, Stenfors says.

Next years Rauma Lace Week will be held from the 22nd to the 30th of July 2023.
