This year, the Christmas trees will again grace the Market Square and Central Park. The Greenery Department plans to set up the trees on Monday, November 20th, weather permitting.
“Strong wind gusts can delay the setting up of the trees, but the weather at the beginning of the week looks reasonable so far. Both trees will be decorated with lights and a star on top,” says forestry engineer Pasi Rantanen.
The tree for the Market Square will be collected during the morning from Saukonkatu in the Ota area. A suitable tree for the Central Park was found on Koivukuja in Uotila.
As the Christmas lights are being installed above the streets of Old Rauma, the Market Square tree will be transported via Isokirkkokatu. The downtown Christmas lights will be turned on during Rauma’s Christmas opening on Saturday, November 25th.
Residents can offer and suggest their own yard trees as Christmas trees for the downtown area. Tree tips can be sent directly to Pasi Rantanen at pasi.rantanen@rauma.fi.
