The Day of Finnish Visual Arts is celebrated in Rauma on 10 July with art and dance

The Day of Finnish Visual Arts, organised in honour of the birthday of visual artist Helene Schjerfbeck, will be celebrated in Rauma on Monday 10 July. The programme includes performances, installations and meetings with the artists. During the day, several artists from Rauma and the surrounding area will open their workshops.

The museums of the City of Rauma, Old Town Hall, Marela and Kirsti, and Rauma Art Museum, are open with extended opening hours from 10 AM to 6 PM. The Teresia and Rafael Lönnström Home Museum is open from 11 AM to 6 PM and the Rauma Maritime Museum from 11 AM to 5 PM.

The admission to all open sites and exhibitions is free of charge. The locations of the art sites and artists’ studios can be found on an online map.

Dance and performances can be seen in Old Rauma

Artists Anniina Ukkonen and Sarah Krasnow (USA) will work in residence of RaumArs ry in Rauma in the summer. The artists will bring their performances to the centre of Old Rauma on the Day of Finnish Visual Arts.

Krasnow’s performances and installations can be seen from 11–18 in Tammela and in the yard of the Church of the Holy Cross, among other places.

Anniina Ukkonen’s mask dance performance can be seen at the Rauma Art Museum and in Tammela. It is the result of a collaboration between dance artist Anniina Ukkonen and mask crafstwoman Johanna Oksanen.
