The Joulevangeeljum musical will fill the streets of Old Rauma on Friday, 15th December at 6 PM and on Saturday, 16th December at 4 PM and 7 PM. The construction of performance sites, the general rehearsal on Thursday, 14th December, and the performance days will cause changes in the area’s traffic arrangements from 11th to 16th December.
Approximately 250 performers will be performing in the musical in Old Rauma at four scene locations and in the streets surrounding these sites. Audiences will move in a procession from one performance site to another. The musical’s scenes will be set up in the Market Square, Kalatori square, the ruins of the Church of the Holy Trinity, and the Church of the Holy Cross.
“Areas in front of the Town Hall and the Kalatori square will be temporarily closed already during rehearsals from Monday to Wednesday. More closures will occur from Thursday to Saturday during the general rehearsals and performance days. This is to ensure a safe event experience for both performers and the audience,” says Outi Lehtorinne, the cultural producer in charge.
Closed street sections are accessible on foot. Driving to properties in the area is possible but subject to escorts, and drivers should be prepared for stopping and waiting as instructed by traffic controllers. Especially, Kauppakatu between Isoraastuvankatu and Itäkatu will be closed for longer periods during the performance week, so alternative driving routes are advisable.
