Psychologists at Child Health Clinic

Child Health Clinic psychologists serve the clients of both Maternity Clinic and Child Health Clinic e.g. when

  • adjusting to parenthood or the changed family circumstances feels challenging
  • parents/guardians are worried about the development of the child
  • the parent/guardian wishes to discuss challenges that parenting/upbringing the child or functioning in daily family life brings forth
  • assessing and monitoring the developmental status of the child calls for psychological evaluation or testing

Work with the client is based on guidance and counselling, psychological examination and treatment of children. Confidentiality is respected throughout the service. Psychologists cooperate closely with other professionals working with families with children.

A referral from a healthcare professional or e.g. staff at day care/kindergarten is required to access the psychologist’s services. However, parents may contact the psychologist independently if they wish to do so.
