Assistive devices services

The assistive devices services include; the evaluation of an individual’s need for an assistive device, the selection, guidance and follow-up of using assistive devices. Items can be loaned for use or given to the individual. As required alterations to the product can be arranged. The assistive devices department is also responsible for maintaining items for loan.

Assistive devices services support individuals, enabling them to cope independently in their working or living environment. The service improves an individual’s functioning capacity, which would otherwise be reduced by illness or disability.

The requirements for an assistive device are outlined in Satakunta District Hospital’s guidelines and assessed case-by-case; taking into account the patient’s needs and situation.

The assistive device services department is located within the medicinal rehabilitation department, on the ground floor of the main healthcare center. It is possible to loan basic assistive products for short term use without an appointment and free of charge; for example walking sticks, crutches, walking frames, orthoses, and shower chairs etc.

Assistive device assessments and fittings can be arranged also by appointment.

The department is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9–14 and Tuesdays from 9–17.

Please take a number from the ‘queue ticket dispenser’ in the hall and wait for your number to be displayed.

It is possible to return borrowed items to the medical rehabilitation department. Which is open Mon–Thu 8–15.30, Friday 8–14. (If you are just returning an item you do not need to queue.)

Contact +358 2 835 2844, if the number is busy please leave a callback request and your call will be returned on the same day.
