Joutsenlaulu – musical

A musical about Olli, Jussi and their legendary band.

The story of the band began when Olli Lindholm fell in love with Jussi Hakulinen’s distinctive music, and their friendship gave birth to a legendary band in Pori in 1981. Olli was the band’s lead singer, as well as a whip maker from its inception until his death. Jussi was the keyboard player, singer, and especially the composer and lyricist.
Soon after the band was formed, it won the qualifying rounds of the Pori rock championships and placed third in the national competition. The band became one of Finland’s most popular bands in 1983 with Jussi Hakulinen’s Dirty Legends and Shattered Angel.

Olli Lindholm was particularly appreciative of Jussi Hakulinen as a musician and composer. Hakulinen has composed many classic Finnish songs such as Joutsenlaulu, Rakkaus on lumivalkoinen, Kiitos ja kunnia, Hän tanssii kanssa angeleleiden and many others. The songs in the musical were composed by Jussi Hakulinen.

Ollin and Jussi’s band is one of the longest-running and most beloved rock bands in Finland. The musical is a tribute to his and Olli Lindholm’s remarkable life’s work, which has made an indelible impression on the hearts of Finns.

Olli is played by the great artist and musician Matti Mikkonen aka Matthau Mikojan, a second generation manserokkari.
Jussi Hakuli is played by the golden cucumber Erik Kraemer, known for his many musicals and his solo career as a heavy singer.
