Rauma lace basic exhibition
Rauma museum exhibits history of Rauma lace by displaying part of its extensive lace collection at the Old Town Hall (Kauppakatu 13). The exhibition tells the story of Rauma lace since the 1700s. The oldest laces on display are from the early 19th century. In Rauma, making bobbin lace by hand was at its peak from the end of the 18th century to the middle of the 19th century. The exhibition showcases laces according to their usage. Fashion has been a major factor in the emergence of different lace designs and the various ways lace has been used.
The exhibition consists of the original basic lace exhibition of the Old Town Hall and the summer 2020 lace exhibition transferred from Marela. The Rauma lace basic exhibition has been expanded and supplemented into a unified whole on the basis of these two exhibitions during the spring of 2021.
Entrance fees to the exhibition: Adults 6 €, senior citizens/pensioners, unemployed and students 3 €, Museum Card, free admission for children under 18.
