Grace, Wisdom and Infinity – Sinikka Palonen’s Drawings from 1st to 31st of July 2021 in the Church Cellar, next to the Church of the Holy Cross (Luostarinkatu 1). The exhibition is open Mon – Fri 10–17, Sat 11–15, Sun 10–16. Free admission.

In Palonen’s  detailed drawings, the themes are, among other things, angels who look at the world with compassion, all sorrows in their eyes.

Palonen’s style is meticulously accurate. The movement of the pen on paper is slow, vivid texture and depth on surfaces, and the rhythms of the lines require hand control and deep concentration. Capturing the infinity of religious subjects, evangelical garments, angel hairstyles, and starry skies on paper is like prayer, meditation and like a physical performance, even a pilgrimage.
