The world that was open to all of us has become rooms in our homes. We can point in any direction, but in reality we are collectively responsible for the state of our world. When five-euro T-shirts are made for sale to Finnish consumers in sweat shops out of reach of our eyes, our own purchasing methods are part of the reason. Now, these same T-shirts live the second round in the World Inside My Room community art work.
The spatial place- and context-related community art project is implemented by artist and producer Johanna Sinkkonen (1983) as part of the RaumArs 2021 residency program.
Sinkkonen’s orientation in the field of community art and applied art has been motivated by an interest in influencing society and a desire to take art processes to places where they are not usually experienced. Her way of working often differs from general gallery activity and that is why he is also looking for new alternative ways to present her work to the public.
Sinkkonen is a scholarship artist at the RaumArs residence.
