Tuesday 7.10.
11.00–12.00 Magic Trick of the Week workshop at RaumArs Art House (advance registration required)
Markku Sarastamo has been actively performing magic tricks since the 1970s. In this workshop, Sarastamo will teach a few card tricks. Participants should bring a euro coin, a deck of cards, and an curios mind.

Thursday 9.10.
15.00 Creative dance workshop at the main library (advance registration required)
Dance artist Emma Heinonen invites seniors in the Rauma area to participate in workshops where they will dance, reminisce, and imagine. Everyone is warmly welcome to join, no previous dance experience is necessary! You can also participate with a loved one.
Heinonen will be working at the RaumArs residence throughout October on a new dance piece that explores Finnishness, our physical history, and the changes brought about by our increasingly diverse society. She is interested in hearing the thoughts of Rauma’s senior citizens on Finnishness and multiculturalism.
The workshop will last about 45 minutes. During the workshop, we will move to music, either sitting or standing, and reflect on what it means to be Finnish.

16.15–17.00 Asahi Health Exercise at TulesTalo (4 €)
Asahi health exercise led by Pirkko Mäkinen. The exercise is gentle and can be done standing or sitting on a chair. Asahi improves balance, relaxes, and increases muscle strength.

Friday 10.10.
18.00 Concert: The Sikses chamber ensemble at Poselli
The Sikses chamber ensemble was recently formed by professional musicians from Rauma. The ensemble consists of Iris Saviauk, Jaakko Mattelmäki on violin, Eija Rusi-Rodriguez on viola, Vesa Vaahtoranta on cello, Juha Ellmén on double bass, and Anneli Vaahtoranta on piano.
The concert begins with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Adagio for string trio and Johann Sebastian Bach’s related fugue. The premiere performance will feature a work for string quintet by young Rauma composer Lucas Laakso. The first half will conclude with the third movement of Robert Schumann’s piano quartet. The second half of the concert will feature Antonín Dvořák’s expansive piano quintet, which powerfully explores the different tones and emotions of life.
There will be an intermission during the concert.

Saturday 11.10.
12.00 & 14.00 Emerald Ladies Energy dance group performs at Poselli
The Raumlaist Itämaist Emerald Ladies Energy dance group from Rauma shares the joy of dance with everyone. Their motto is: Dance belongs to everyone. The group’s style is oriental dance. The dance group includes both young and older ladies.

18.00 Lönnström Art Museum concert: Plant Based Stories concert at Big Botanic (advance registration required)
Plant Based Stories is based on stories and memories related to plants, as told by residents of Rauma. Musicians Mirella Pendolin, Ada Katz, and Esko Grundström have composed and written lyrics based on stories collected in spring 2025, creating tailor-made musical pieces for Big Botanic. The songs combine pop, jazz, schlager, and ethnic music. The performances are complemented by the Rauma women’s choir Rauman Flikkatten Göör. The concert inside a weather protection scaffolding, surrounded by artificial plants, is a unique experience!

13.00 Lappi VPK band’s 60th anniversary concert (20 €)
Lappi VPK (volunteer fire department) band’s 60th anniversary concert Paloja vuosien varrelta. The concert will be conducted by Essi Nurminen and Joni Ristikankare.
Price 20 €. Tickets are available at the door, from the musicians, or at the Pyyrman (Valtakatu 2).

SILVER BIRD MAKING, demonstration
Come and see how silver jewelry is made! Markku Sarastamo’s performance combines the skills and techniques he has learned from professionals over the years. In the demonstration, you will see how an idea is turned into jewelry – and get tips on how to make your own jewelry.
The exhibition also includes a section for children, which will be open throughout the exhibition.

18.00 Lönnström Art Museum concert: Lau Nau – an Electronic Concert for Plants at Big Botanic (advance registration required)
Composer and sound artist Lau Nau (Laura Naukkarinen) uses a modular synthesizer, singingvoices, and field recordings from Big Botanic as her instruments. The performance combines site-spesific sound art with compositions inspired by nature. The 7th grade music class at Hj. Nortamo Elementary School has participated in the preparation of the concert by recording sounds with Lau Nau inside Big Botanic. In the concert, these sounds are woven into the soundscape of the performance. Lau Nau’s first concert in Rauma!
