Autumn Exercise Groups September 1 – December 18, 2026

Monday

*9–10AM Morning exercise, Winter training hall, Teollisuuskatu 19. Come to strengthen balance, mobility, muscle fitness, and endurance in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere. You can bring your own exercise mat and resistance band.

11–11.30AM Chair exercise, Hirsikatu 11. An open, low-threshold chair exercise for everyone, held in the clubroom located on the ground floor of the apartment building. Please note that accessing the space requires using stairs.

11.45–12.15AM Outside exercise, Teollisuuskatu 15C. In outside exercise, a variety of standing exercises are performed. Come enjoy fresh air and the joy of movement! Exercises are done according to your own fitness level.

12.45–1.15PM Gentle water exercise, Aittakarinkatu 10. Gentle water exercise is a kind and joint-friendly form of exercise suitable for everyone. Exercises use the resistance of water. Access to water exercise requires a wellbeing wristband or a swimming hall entrance fee.

*3-4PM Fitness Mix, Aittakarinkatu 10. The group offers changing activities like stick exercises, dance, cardio, walking, and nature hikes. You can find the weekly program on the sports services website. Participants can influence the content of the sessions. Sign up for the group from this link.

Tuesday

*10-11AM Badminton session, at the sports hall of Karis campus, Aittakarinkatu 10. During this session, you can play at your own pace and according to your own fitness level. You can come with your own playing partner or arrange games on the spot. Rackets and shuttlecocks are available to borrow. A fitness instructor is not present during the badminton session. *11.15-12.15AM Balance group, at the sports hall of Karis campus, Aittakarinkatu 10. In the balance group, exercises are practiced in a versatile, safe, and encouraging atmosphere. The exercises support daily mobility, maintaining functional ability, and fall prevention. Sign up for the group through this link.

12.30-1.15PM Chair exercises, at the sports hall of Karis campus, Aittakarinkatu 10. Open to everyone, low-threshold chair exercises where the exercises are done sitting or using the chair for support. The entry wristband for the sports hall can be picked up at the swimming hall counter, and we use the sports hall changing rooms.

1.30-2PM Chair exercise, Metsotie 6. An open, low-threshold chair exercise for everyone, where exercises are done sitting or using a chair for support. The exercise takes place in a club room located at street level.

4-5.30 PM Senior dance, Kaunisjärvi Wellness Center, Steniuksenkatu 4. Senior dance is an international form of exercise aimed at older adults, something between a circle game and a dance. The key elements are catchy music, the challenge of learning, and the joy of succeeding. Plenty of laughter and fun! Senior dance is also important for physical fitness; it trains the heart and circulatory system and improves balance and coordination.

Wednesday

*10.15-11.15AM Strength training group, at the courtyard of the Kari campus, Aittakarinkatu 10. As the weather gets colder, we will move indoors to sports hall. The group offers a variety of strength exercises using different equipment and your own body weight. The exercises support everyday endurance, improve functional capacity, and maintain as well as develop good fitness. Sign up for the group through this link.

9-10:30 Uotila walk, starting from Hakatie 5. Come enjoy good company and fresh air!

*9:30-10:15 Body care, at Karin campus budoroom, Aittakarinkatu 10. At Karin campus budoroom, 2nd floor. The body care class focuses on wellbeing through calm and gentle exercises. The class includes movements that increase mobility, stretching, and relaxation to help relieve muscle tension and maintain flexibility. Sign up for the group through this link.

11:45-12:15 Chair exercise, Riekkopolku 2. An open, low-threshold chair exercise for everyone, where exercises are done sitting or using the chair for support. The exercise takes place in a club room on the ground floor. Note! Starting from October!

*12:15-1:15 PM Instructor at the gym, Aittakarinkatu 10. There will be an instructor on site at the gym whom you can ask for advice and get guidance on using the equipment as well as training. The instructor is there to help both beginners and more experienced fitness enthusiasts. Access to the gym guidance is with a wellbeing wristband or the swimming hall entrance fee. Use the swimming hall changing rooms.

12:30-1:00 PM Chair exercise, Kiuruvahe 5A. An open low-threshold chair exercise class for everyone, where the exercises are done sitting or using a chair for support. The class is held in the street-level lobby.

*1:15-2:15 PM Gym course, Aittakarinkatu 10.

2-2.30PM Chair exercise, Tuulensuunkatu 4. An open, low-threshold chair exercise for everyone, where the exercises are done sitting or using a chair for support. The exercise takes place in a ground-floor club room.

3-5PM Boccia and chair exercise in separate groups, Uotila gym, Sippolankuja 2. Boccia is a fun and relaxed precision ball game suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Chair exercise is an open, low-threshold activity for everyone, where exercises are done sitting or using a chair for support.

3:00-3:45PM Chair Exercise at Kourujärvi Sports Hall, Karpalotie 3. Chair exercise is a low-threshold session open to everyone, where exercises are done sitting down or using a chair for support.

3:30-4:30 PM Chair Exercise at Ota Multipurpose Hall, Urheilukatu 19. Chair exercise is a low-threshold session open to everyone, where exercises are done sitting down or using a chair for support.

Friday

10-11AM Walking, Winter Training Hall, Teollisuuskatu 19. In addition to walking, the class includes strength exercises and the use of the fitness equipment in the winter training hall.

1:30-2AM Light water aerobics, Aittakarinkatu 10. Light water aerobics is a gentle and joint-friendly form of exercise suitable for everyone. The exercises use the resistance of the water. Entry to water aerobics is with a wellbeing bracelet or the swimming hall entrance fee.

You don’t need to sign up for groups unless specifically mentioned (*). Registrations open on Monday 10.8 at 12 PM. Instructors will inform you about any group-specific exceptions!

Gym course for seniors

Would you like to learn how to use gym equipment correctly and safely? This course is designed for seniors who need guidance on using the equipment and support with practicing the exercises.

During the course, we’ll go through how to use gym machines, proper techniques, and safe and effective workouts. You’ll get personal guidance and confidence in gym training so you can continue working out on your own after the course.

Course duration and schedule: The course lasts three weeks, during which we will meet six times on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:15PM to 2:15PM.

The course is mainly intended for complete beginners or those who want to gain confidence in using gym equipment. Welcome to practice in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere!
