Swimming areas

Rauma has several public beaches and a swimming hall. EU beaches are those estimated to be visited by at least 100 swimmers per day during the swimming season.

The city has seven beach saunas with public access from June to August. The exception is Lapin rantasauna (Puusaun), which is open all year round.

Dogs can swim at the end of the turnpike at Maanpäännokka.

Monitoring the swimming waters

The purpose of swimming water monitoring is to ensure that the water in public swimming areas, swimming halls and other pools is sufficiently clean to prevent illnesses caused by water.

Monitoring the quality of swimming water is part of the control under the Health Protection Act. Samples are taken regularly from public swimming areas during the swimming season to monitor water quality. Public open-air swimming sites are sampled once a month during the winter season. In addition, regular inspections are carried out at the swimming and winter swimming sites to check on cleanliness, toilets, waste management, etc.

The list of supervised swimming beaches, reminders about supervised swimming beaches, and bathing water profiles of EU beaches can be found on the website of the Environmental Office of South-Satakunta. The site also provides bathing water results. The sites are in Finnish.

The quality of the water in the swimming hall is monitored by the swimming hall personnel and by regular sampling by the authorities. The health inspectorate also monitors the water quality of other public swimming pools. The results of the most recent bathing water sample must be available to users of the public beach, swimming hall or public swimming pool.
