August Brings Festivals, Films, and Sporting Excitement to Rauma
News
August offers a wide range of events in Rauma, from music and film festivals to sports. Throughout the month, the city will be filled with festival atmosphere, international guests, cinematic experiences and top-level ice hockey.

Poppi Pauhaa, 31 July – 1 August
This year’s new festival addition, Poppi Pauhaa, will fill Parpansali Field with Finnish music for two days. The programme features schlager, pop, rock and rap, with performers including Arttu Wiskari, Virve Rosti, Portion Boys, Mikael Gabriel and Klamydia.
The festival has an age limit of 18. Poppi Pauhaa is organised by Rauhala Events Oy.

Rauma Festivo, 4–8 August
Rauma Festivo offers high-quality chamber music combined with theatre and dance. The festival programme includes eight ticketed concerts and more than a dozen free performances around the city. On Thursday 6 August, the popular Carpe diem day brings free surprise concerts to Old Rauma every hour on the hour.
Tickets for paid concerts can be purchased in advance from the Service Point Pyyrman, through Lippu.fi sales channels and at the venue doors.
Rauma Festivo is organised by the Rauma Konserttiyhdistys Association, and the festival has been held annually since 1984.

Pitsiturnaus, 6–7 August
One of Finland’s most traditional pre-season ice hockey tournaments offers a chance to see top teams in action before the start of the season. The matches will be played at Kivikylän Areena.
This year, Pitsiturnaus expands into a two-day event, as the Women’s Pitsiturnaus will be held for the first time on Thursday 6 August, featuring top teams from the Aurora League. Admission to the women’s tournament is free. The men’s Pitsiturnaus will take place on Friday 7 August.

Auringonlaskun Festivaali, 14–15 August
Auringonlaskun Festivaali returns to Otanlahti Beach Park for its second consecutive summer. The pop-rock focused festival programme features both emerging performers and well-known Finnish artists.
Friday’s free Open Stage event showcases live music from lesser-known and local artists and bands. The evening will be headlined by Kuningasidea. On Saturday, the audience will be entertained by artists including Vesterinen Yhtyeineen, Neljä Ruusua and Samuli Putro.
The festival has an age limit of 18. It is organised in cooperation by Poroholman Rantatalo and Kulttuurikuppila Brummi.

Blue Sea Film Festival, 20–23 August
Blue Sea Film Festival brings four days of films and festival atmosphere to Rauma. Now taking place for the 33rd time, the festival presents Finnish and international films as well as Rauma premieres at venues across the city.
In addition to screenings, visitors can enjoy a free evening programme in the courtyard of Kapakka² on 21–22 August, featuring live music, drag performances and opportunities to meet filmmakers.
The festival is organised by the Rauma Film Club, while the Baltic Herring competition is organised by the Rauman elokuvaajat Association.
