Construction of the new footbal field in Äijänsuo will begin on August 3, 2026 – changes to the use of the surrounding area

Earthwork for the new football field in Äijänsuo will begin on Monday, August 3, 2026. The contract for the project was signed on Thursday, July 23. Maarakennus Jalonen Oy will serve as the contractor.
The work will cause changes in the area surrounding the ice rink and the winter training hall.
The new heated artificial turf field will be built on the site of the current grass field, east of the winter training hall. The pedestrian and bicycle path on the east side of the winter training hall will be relocated to the west side of the hall, and the parking lot between the winter training hall and the ice rink will be closed and converted into a construction site. Construction site traffic will use the entrance formerly used by the swimming pool.
At the start of the first phase of construction, earthwork and related excavation work will be carried out. The new field is scheduled to be completed in June 2027.
