Libraries Switch to Summer Hours

The libraries have moved to summer opening hours, bringing some changes to their schedules. The Main Library is closed on Saturdays during the summer. Pyynpää and Kourujärvi libraries operate daytime hours on Wednesdays and Fridays, when they are open from 10:00 to 16:00.
The self-service hours at Uotila Library and Lappi Library remain unchanged throughout the summer. Up-to-date opening hours and any exceptions can be found on the library website.
All libraries will be closed on Wednesday, June 3. Uotila Library and Lappi Library self-service will still be accessible; you will need a library card and PIN code to enter.
Rowboats Available Again
Rowboats have returned to the canal after a couple of years’ break, offering a pleasant summer activity. Life jackets and the key to a rowboat can be borrowed from the Main Library with a library card. The loan period is one day, and the borrower must be at least 18 years old.
Mobile Library Summer Route
The mobile library will operate its summer route from June 1 to June 30 and again from August 3 to August 11. The mobile library will be on summer break in July.
Water Lily Pond Reading Challenge Encourages Reading
The children’s sections of the libraries are launching the “Water Lily Pond” reading challenge for the summer. For every three books read or listened to, participants receive a water lily character to add to a shared pond display. The aim is to encourage children, young people, and families to enjoy reading during the summer
