Open Yards of Old Rauma Welcome Visitors During Lace Week 18–26 July 2026
News

Residents of Old Rauma will open their courtyards to locals and visitors during Rauma Lace Week from 18 to 26 July 2026. The Open Yards and Flea Markets event offers a unique opportunity to explore private courtyards and experience everyday life in a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This year, 37 courtyards are participating, some of them opening to the public for the very first time.
Visitors will have the chance to step inside private inner courtyards, an essential part of Old Rauma’s historic townscape and distinctive atmosphere. Many courtyards host flea markets, while some also feature pop-up courtyard cafés. In addition, few artists’ courtyards will be open to visitors.
A courtyard may be visited when its gate is open and the sign of the Old Rauma Association (Vanha Rauma Yhdistys) is displayed. Opening hours vary according to the residents’ own schedules, and the number of participating courtyards may change from day to day due to the voluntary nature of the event.
Each year, approximately 30–40 courtyards take part in the event, attracting a total of around 70,000–80,000 visits.
All open courtyards, courtyard flea markets, and artists’ open courtyards are marked on a map (pdf), which includes all 37 locations open to visitors.
The latest updates about the event can be followed on the Old Rauma Association’s Facebook page. The association is organising this popular event for the 21st time.
