The opening celebration of Rauma’s renovated Central Park will take place on Saturday, 26 September 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event for the whole family will feature activity stations, workshops, performances, and other programme throughout the park. Together with residents, the City of Rauma will celebrate the completion of the renewed park area.

– Central Park has been an important part of everyday life in Rauma for decades. The goal of the renovation has been to create a comfortable, accessible, year-round meeting place for people of all ages. It is wonderful to celebrate the completed park and invite residents to explore its new opportunities, says City Gardener Mari Pohjalainen.

Activities and Entertainment Throughout the Park

The opening day programme will be spread across different areas of the park, offering something for visitors of all ages.

Visitors can try sports equipment at the Sports Services Sport Cart, take part in a hobby horse course, and enjoy glitter face painting. Kotihoito 100 will host a Teddy Bear Hospital, where children can bring their favourite soft toy for a check-up. Miss Lace (Pitsimissi) will also be present at the park.

The day will also feature entertaining performances and workshops. Sirkus Simon’s street circus show will take place at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00 and 13:00. Dancing mime artist Anniina Ukkonen will perform and lead workshops at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30 and 13:30.

Representatives of a local skateboarding association will showcase the new skate park features from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the ice park next to Central Park. The skate area, implemented based on a proposal from the City of Rauma’s 2026 participatory budgeting process, complements the area’s year-round recreational opportunities.

In connection with the event, the Rakastunut Raumaan Association will organise the Minihysteria city adventure, where children can solve small tasks in Old Rauma. More information is available at Rakastunut Raumaan Association’s website (in Finnish).

An Even More Versatile Central Park

The extensive renovation of Central Park was completed in early August, and the park opened to the public on 7 August 2026. One of Rauma’s most significant park projects has created a more versatile space in the city centre, offering opportunities for play, exercise and spending time together throughout the year.

– The opening celebration provides a great opportunity to explore the renovated Central Park. Its three climbing-themed playgrounds, new seating areas and impressive planting schemes make it an even more pleasant and functional place for residents to enjoy, says Pohjalainen.

The event is organised by the City of Rauma in cooperation with the Rakastunut Raumaan Association.
