Traffic Arrangements Change During Lace Week – Here’s How to Get Around in Rauma City Centre During the Festival
Uutinen

The events of the city festival Lace Week will bring changes to traffic, parking and public transport in the centre of Rauma. The temporary traffic arrangements will come into effect from Monday, 20 July 2026. Lace Week will be celebrated from 18–26 July 2026.
The temporary arrangements will be removed after the event, no later than Monday, 27 July. The pedestrian street arrangements in Old Rauma will remain in place until 2 August.
– Popular events bring large numbers of people into the city centre. Our primary measure is always to restrict and direct traffic in a way that minimizes the risk of vehicle-related accidents and collisions. During Lace Week, as with all major events, the most important goal is to prevent accidents and injuries, says Safety Manager Tanja Ufer.
Markets and Savila Park Events Bring Trafic Restrictions to the City Centre
The International Grand Market opens on Wednesday, 22 July at 10:00. Construction of the market area will begin on Tuesday, 21 July, when several streets in the city centre will also be closed to traffic.
Traffic will be closed on Nortamonkatu between Vänninkatu and Pakkahuoneenkatu. At the same time, the long-distance coach stop on Nortamonkatu will be out of service for the duration of the market.
Barrier gates supervised by traffic controllers will be placed at the intersections of Valtakatu and Tehtaankatu as well as Kalliokatu and Lyseokatu. In addition, the section of Kanavakatu along the canal waterfront and Savilankatu between Pakkahuoneenkatu and Kuninkaankatu will be closed. The taxi rank in Savila Park and the adjacent parking area will remain in normal use. Emergency access routes and service connections will also remain open throughout the event.
The vehicle restriction within the event area also applies to bicycles and e-scooters, although they may be pushed through the area. Access to properties in Old Rauma is permitted with a valid driving permit issued by Pyyrman Service Point. Businesses are advised to carry out deliveries and maintenance transport in the morning before the event area opens.
– Safety arrangements often involve balancing security with a smooth event experience. We want to ensure that everyone can enjoy Lace Week safely, easily and in good spirits, reminds Outi Lehtorinne, Cultural Producer in Charge.
Public Transport to Operate on Temporary Routes
Rauman Gyyt public transport services will operate on temporary routes during Lace Week, starting on Monday, 20 July. Bus lines will bypass the closed city centre area via Vähämaanpuisto or Kaunisjärvi, and some bus stops in the city centre will be temporarily out of service. Local bus departure stops will be relocated to Savilankatu, in front of Kari School.
On Black Lace Friday (24 July), additional bus services will be provided. Up-to-date route information, temporary departure stops and timetables are available in the Matka.fi and Seutu+ journey planners.
The temporary routes and increased traffic in the city centre may cause delays to bus services.
