Participatory budgeting is being implemented for the sixth time

The City of Rauma is implementing participatory budgeting for the sixth time in 2026. This year, residents are encouraged to submit ideas that promote community spirit, wellbeing, and meaningful encounters between people of different ages and backgrounds in Rauma. The total budget for participatory budgeting is €50,000, and the maximum cost for a single project is €25,000.

The ideation phase is open until 27 February. You can submit your idea using the link below.

– We want to encourage residents to propose, for example, community‑building events that bring together people of different ages and backgrounds, or other activities that support meaningful encounters. Doing things together generates new ideas and creates safe shared environments, says Wellbeing Manager Kristiina Kuusio.

Schedule

  • Ideation phase: 3 Feb – 27 Feb
  • Co‑creation phase: 2 Mar – 27 Mar. Submitted ideas will be reviewed and further developed together with experts in preparation for the voting phase.
  • Voting phase: 23 Mar – 10 Apr. Voting opens, and residents as well as other interested participants can vote for their favourite idea.
  • Results will be published at the end of April, after which planning for the selected implementations will begin

Rules and Evaluation Criteria

All ideas submitted by residents will be reviewed, and their feasibility, compliance with guidelines, and costs will be assessed. You may submit an idea even if you are not sure whether all criteria are met.
