Committees and Boards of Directors

Election Committee
The municipal Election Committee is a body appointed by the City Council for its term of office, as prescribed by the Election Act. Its task is to organize elections within the municipality.
City of Rauma South Satakunta Employment Area Committee
The City of Rauma South Satakunta Employment Area Committee acts as the labor authority for the South Satakunta region and as a joint body of the municipalities in the area. Its task is to organize employment services in the region.
The South Satakunta employment area includes Rauma, Eura, Eurajoki, Huittinen, and Säkylä. The Board consists of representatives from all municipalities in the area. The chairperson and vice-chairperson are always representatives from municipalities other than the responsible municipality.
Rauma Region Waste Management Committee
The Rauma Region Waste Management Committee acts as the municipal waste management authority in accordance with Section 23 of the Waste Act. Its task is to serve as the waste management authority for the municipalities in the cooperation area, making decisions on official duties prescribed by the Waste Act.
Rauma Region Waste Management Utility Board of Directions
The Board’s mission is to direct and manage the handling of municipal waste in the operating area so that waste is recycled or utilized as efficiently and economically as possible. The activities include the planning, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the treatment and utilization of municipal waste.
Rauma Water and Sewerage Utility Board of Directors
The Board ensures that Rauma’s water and wastewater services are developed in accordance with the water supply development plan approved by the City Council, and makes proposals when necessary to revise the plan’s objectives.
In addition, the Board directs and supervises the utility’s operations and ensures the proper organization of its administration, activities, and internal control.
Education Committee
The Education Committee is responsible for organizing early childhood education, pre-primary, basic, and upper secondary education, as well as leisure services provided to residents, such as cultural, museum, sports, and youth services.
Audit Commission
The Audit Commission evaluates whether the operational and financial objectives set by the City Council have been achieved in the City of Rauma and its group, and whether activities have been organized effectively and appropriately.
The Commission also monitors compliance with the obligation of elected officials and officeholders to declare their interests and submits the declarations to the Council for information. Each spring, the Commission prepares an evaluation report for the Council on the achievement of the city’s operational and financial objectives
Technical Committee
The Technical Committee is responsible for the tasks of the technical sector of the City of Rauma, including the planning, implementation, and maintenance of area, facility, property, and environmental services, as well as small boat harbor operations, waste management, and water and sewerage services.
The technical sector also prepares matters related to land use planning and organizes building supervision, environmental protection, and waste management administration.
Environment and Licensing Committee
The Environment and Licensing Committee acts as the building supervision and environmental protection authority. It is responsible for organizing guidance, advice, and supervision of construction in Rauma.
In addition, under the Committee, the city’s environmental protection unit handles preparation, supervision, and implementation tasks, as well as decision-making delegated to officials
