August in Rauma is packed with events for everyone. The city is full of festivals with many types of musical genres throughout the month. All events and tips can be found in the event calendar at tapahtumat.rauma.fi/en.
Rauma Festivo – August 5–9
During Rauma Festivo, classical music gems, theatre and musical hits, and folk tunes will be heard all around Rauma. The event consists of many smaller concerts held in venues such as Poselli, Rauma-sali, Pyhän Ristin kirkko, Brummi and Café Sali. In addition to the main concerts, Thursday August 7, is Carpe Diem Day and free surprise concerts can be heard every hour in Old Rauma.
Tickets for paid concerts can be purchased when arriving, or in advance from service point Pyyrman or lippu.fi. Café concerts and Carpe Diem Day events are open for spontaneous attendance. The program also includes activities for families. Rauma Festivo is organized by the Rauman konserttiyhdistys ry. The festival has been held annually since 1984.
Rauma Blues – August 14–16
Rauma Blues is, as the name suggests, a blues festival that attracts visitors from all over Finland. The main concerts take place in a tent set up at Parpansali field. The program also includes free club concerts and a parade accompanied by a marching band. Performers of the festival come from Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, and the USA.
This year marks the 40th edition of Rauma blues. The event is 18+. Bus transportation is available to the festival from Pori and the Turku area. The festival is organized by Rauma Blues’86 ry, run by a six-member board. The event is entirely volunteer driven with no paid staff.

The Blue Sea Film Festival spreads across several venues, including the Iso-Hannu cinema, the old swimming hall and Kuuskajaskari island. The festival hub is centred around Amarillo. A wide selection of films from the Baltic Sea region will be shown – full length and short fiction, documentaries, animations, and the Finnish premiere of the locally filmed “A Light That Never Goes Out”.
The festival offers content for all ages and interests. In addition to over 50 film screenings, attendees can meet the filmmakers. Free evening parties will be held on Friday and Saturday on Amarillo’s extended terrace.
The festival is organized annually by the Rauman elokuvakerho ry. The Baltic herring competition is managed by Rauman elokuvaajat ry. Volunteers and partners play a key role in making of the event.
