The traditional Christmas tree was brought to Rauma’s Market Square today, Tuesday, November 11th, and placed unusually in the center of the square. The tree stands about five meters tall and was grown in the yard of a private home in Eura.

The location had to be changed because the usual tree base is currently under a detour due to renovations at Rauma’s Town Hall. As a result, the tree had to be installed above ground, which required special measures.

– A larger tree cannot be installed above ground due to the high risk of it falling, manager of Green Services Kustaa Elsilä explains.

The tree can be admired from all sides of the square and will be decorated with lights and a star on top. The city center’s Christmas lights will be switched on during Rauma’s official Christmas opening event on Friday, November 22nd at 4 PM.
