The City Festival Rauma Lace Week will bring changes to traffic arrangements in the Rauma city centre. The construction of event areas will close streets to traffic, affect parking, and relocate local public transport stops.
The festival area will begin construction on Tuesday 22.7.
Street closures will start at 7 a.m. on Tuesday 22.7., as the festival area is being built. The international Grand Markets will open to the public on Wednesday 23.7. at 10 a.m.
Nortamonkatu will be closed between Vänninkatu and Pakkahuoneenkatu. Roadblocks will also be placed on Valtakatu, to the crossroads of Tehtaankatu and Valtakatu, and to Kalliokatu, to the crossroads of Lyseonkatu and Kalliokatu. Kanavakatu will be closed from traffic next to the canal. Savilankatu will be closed between Pakkahuoneenkatu and Kuninkaankatu. On Laivuripolku only pedestrians are allowed.
Motor vehicles, electric scooters and bicycles are not allowed in the festival area. Bicycles may be walked through the area.
Delivery traffic to the businesses located in the festival area is requested to be carried out in the mornings before 10 am from July 22 to 26. Emergency access routes will remain open on all closed street sections.
Local bus stops to move on Savilankatu
Lace week will also affect local bus stops in Rauma. The Gyyt bus stops on Savilankatu will be relocated next to Karin kampus from July 21 to 27. The express bus stop will not be in use during the market days.
The parking spaces along Savilankatu in front of Karin kampus will be out of use starting Friday 18.7. Alternative parking will be arranged in the schoolyard of Karin kampus.
The Savilanpuisto taxi stand and the adjacent parking area will operate normally throughout Lace Week.
Traffic arrangements ensure safety for visitors and vendors
The modified traffic arrangements aim to ensure a safe environment for both visitors and vendors. The Lace Week is expected to gather tens of thousands of visitors.
The traffic arrangements for Lace week will be dismantled by Monday 28.7.
