Pride flag

Rauma Pride, which advocates for the rights of sexual and gender minorities, will take place this week. The main day of the event, is Saturday, June 14. On that day, there will be a parade through Old Rauma and a park party in Parpansali.

The City of Rauma is a partner of Rauma Pride and will be flying the flag for diversity and equality throughout the event weekend. In line with the city strategy, Rauma promotes equality, tolerance, and safety through its actions. At its best, being from Rauma means genuine human connections, caring for others, tolerance, and courageous actions.

“We work hard in Rauma to ensure that everyone feels welcome here and that everyone who lives here can live their life as they choose. Rauma Pride is an important reminder to us all that Rauma is home to everyone who lives here,” says Mayor Esko Poikela.

During Pride weekend, two types of flags will be displayed in front of City Hall: traditional rainbow flags and progressive rainbow flags. The progressive flag includes the pink and blue stripes of the trans flag, a brown and black stripe representing racialized and ethnic groups, and the yellow and purple colors representing intersex people.

A family-friendly event on Saturday, June 14

The main event of Rauma Pride will be held on Saturday, June 14. A parade for equality, non-discrimination, and love will start at 1:00 p.m. from Savilanpuisto. A family-friendly park party will follow in Parpansali starting at 1:30 p.m., featuring performances by Duo Saara and Mikko, the Fake Kikka working group of the Theater Association, and Helena Routa.

Rauma Pride is organized by Rauma Pride ry, which promotes equality and well-being for people belonging to sexual and gender minorities and strives to reduce inequality and discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
