The Night of Waste at the Hevossuo Recycling Centre on June 5, 2026 – Free Event and Nonstop Bus for All Ages
News

The Night of Waste will be celebrated in Rauma on Friday, June 5, when the yard of the Hevossuo recycling centre fills with activities and opportunities to connect. This year, taking part is easier than ever, as a free Rauma Gyyt bus will operate for the first time between Savila and Hevossuo.
The free Waste Night event, organised by the Rauma Region Waste Management Company, focuses this year on hazardous waste. Proper handling of hazardous waste improves both home safety and environmental well-being. The aim of the event is to encourage residents of Rauma to bring excess hazardous waste, such as batteries, out of their homes so they do not increase unnecessary fire load or fire risk.
During Waste Night, a wide range of activities will be available at the recycling centre for visitors of all ages. Representatives from various fields will be present, especially to provide guidance on the correct handling of hazardous waste. Visitors can also meet representatives and equipment from the rescue services, the police, and the Pyyrman Service Point.
– The event offers a relaxed summer atmosphere combined with important environmental information. As always, visitors can receive advice on recycling, waste sorting, or even choosing the right type of waste container. In addition, as in previous years, special attention has been given to children at the event, says Tarja Sillanpää, Operations Manager at the waste management company.
Children can enjoy yard games and small competitions, and in the afternoon, sheep from the Ali–Unki sheep farm will visit the area. There will also be live music in the evening, as the band PINTA performs at the event.
