Trail usage time

Horseback riding is allowed on the trail annually between 16 February and 31 October. Between November and February, the area is used by the Rauma Hunters’ Association, and horseback riding is prohibited during this time.

The trail is intended for use by all riders. For example, riding schools can offer their own riding services on the trail. There is no reservation system on the trail.

Trail and parking area

The riding trail is reached via Rokintie. The riding trail parking area is located at the beginning of Säikäntie and is designed for six horse-trailer combinations. There are also 7 parking spaces in the parking area. Vehicle combinations must be parked so that others can drive past.

The starting point of the riding trail is in the parking area (Säikäntie 10). The trail is signposted and marked on the trees with orange paint marks. The direction of the riding is clockwise. The total length of the riding trail is 3,8 km, but if you wish, you can ride a shorter route of either 1,3 km or 2,5 km. Routes of different lengths can also be combined.

In addition to walking, you can also trot or gallop on the trail, if conditions permit. An actual gallop section has been built in the middle of the route, which is 320 m long. It is safer for a horse to move faster on the gallop section, because the fairway has a grippy stone ash surface and better space (the hoof groove is 2 m wide). Walking is prohibited on the gallop section and walkers have been directed to take another route past the gallop straight.

Shared use of the trail

Everyone moves on the trail at their own risk. Trail users should note that there is no winter maintenance or lighting on the trail.

Walking and dog walking are permitted on the trail, but dogs must be on a leash.

Mountain biking is prohibited on the trail, as horses may be scared of them.
