Information About Rauma Art School
Children and young people aged 7-18 study basic studies in visual arts. The aim of the teaching is to support one’s own expression, appreciation of culture, the theory of art-making and knowledge of different materials and tools. The school teaches painting, drawing, construction, photography, ceramics and printmaking. Studying at the Rauma Art School is a regular and goal-oriented, long-term activity where students can develop their expression and find a lifelong hobby. It also prepares students for vocational studies.
Basic Courses
7-11 year olds practice making observations and get to know the different materials and tools used in art-making. The work emphasises imagination, self-expression and creativity.
Workshops
11-18 year olds take part in different workshops, deepening their knowledge and skills in areas such as painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, architecture, sculpture and ceramics.
Application for the academic year 2026-2027
You can apply to the Art School by registering for the application queue, which will open from 2nd May 2026 at 09:00: (link coming soon)
The application period is from 2nd May until 13th August 2026. We will accept new students aged 7-17 into groups in the order of registration. When you register, you will be added to the application queue. We will send information about your student place and group in mid-August.

Continuing students
When you are already studying at school, you will receive a registration link at home in April-May, from which you can choose a course for the next academic year. Here are a few instructions for continuing registration:
• You choose the basic courses in order. If you were in Basic Course 1 this year, for the next academic year you choose Basic Course 2, etc.
• After Basic Course 5, you can choose a workshop. You can choose the workshops in the order that suits you. We fill the workshops in the order of registration. We accept approximately 12-16 students for the workshops, depending on the workshop’s activities.
• If you take a gap year or stop studying, you must notify the school as soon as possible.

Autumn break is 20.-24.10. (week 43)
Autumn term ends on Thursday 11.12.
Spring term starts on Monday 12.1.2026
Winter holiday is 16.-20.2. (week 8)
No lessons on Holy Thursday 2.4., nor on Easter Monday 6.4.,
nor on Eve of May Day 30.4
The academic year ends for basic courses on 13.5.
The school year ends for workshops on 21.5.
