Together in Multicultural Southern-Satakunta project
The project promotes the integration of citizens who have moved to Finland from outside the EU. The aim of the project is to increase awareness of Finnish society and participation of immigrants through cooperation, education, networking, and improving relations between ethnic groups, with the goal of increasing regional vitality.


About the project
The aim of the project is to strengthen and clarify cooperation between organizations promoting integration in the Southern-Satakunta region.
The target group for the measures includes citizens of countries outside the European Union and the Schengen Agreement living in the region, as well as authorities and organizations working in this field.
A uniform model for Multilingual Civic orientation suitable for the region, and training for instructors will be mapped out and trained during the project. In addition, facilities are being planned as meeting places for people with foreign backgrounds and the native population, where different actors can gather regularly.
The city of Rauma is implementing the Together in Multicultural Southenr-Satakunta project in collaboration with Eura, Eurajoki, Huittinen, and Säkylä. The project will continue until 2026.
The project partners include local organizations, religious communities, employment authorities, educational institutions, and other projects. It is co-funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), which is administered by the EU Ministry of the Interior.
Project goals
- Objective 1: Strengthening and clarifying cooperation between organizations promoting integration in the Southern-Satakunta region. Report on services provided by municipalities and the third sector in the project area that are aimed at citizens moving to Finland from outside the EU.
- Objective 2: To develop and clarify the availability of initial support services in the immigrants’ own languages. To develop a Multilingual Civic orientation model and train instructors.
- Objective 3: Strengthening the skills and knowledge that promote the integration and participation of citizens who have moved to Finland from outside the EU. An Urban living room-concept and operating model will be created in each municipality in the project area in cooperation with the municipalities, the third sector, and foreigners. A network of association mentors will be created during the project. Association mentors will help citizens who have moved to Finland from outside the EU to find leisure activities and other activities that interest them and help them get acquainted with these activities.
