Rauma’s Children’s and Young People’s Consultation Day will be held on Tuesday, 21 April 2026 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chamber. The event is organised for the 16th time by the Rauma Children’s Parliament, the Rauma Youth Council and the city’s youth services.
This year, the discussions will focus on play and leisure spaces for children and young people in the city centre. Another key theme is cooperation between school student councils, the Youth Council and the Children’s Parliament. Participants will also talk about ways to support an active lifestyle at school and during school journeys.
– Each year, the Consultation Day focuses on changing themes that are developed together with the Children’s Parliament and the Youth Council. This year, representatives from school student council boards are also taking part, says Youth Leader Maija Salomaa.
The Consultation Day brings together city officials, external experts, representatives of relevant municipal boards and committees, as well as the chairs of the City Executive Board and the City Council. Together with children and young people, the participants form groups to discuss the themes of the day.
– The event is important because it gives decision-makers and city officials the opportunity to hear directly from children and young people on issues that affect them. The work is carried out in small groups, where the views of children and young people are at the heart of the discussion, says Youth Director Rea Poikonen.
