Rauma train platforms area

As part of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s project, a new passenger stop will be built in Rauma, which will serve as Rauma’s new railway station in the future. Construction of the new stop will begin in April 2026, and the project will be completed in its entirety during 2026.

The project involves building a new passenger station on the existing rail line. The project includes, among other things, platform structures, pedestrian access routes, lighting, modifications to safety equipment, and passenger information systems.

The project design takes into account accessibility, safety, and seamless connections. As part of the same project, a new Leikarinkatu street and a park-and-ride area will also be built north of Hakunintie.

– The Rauma station is a significant step toward smoother and more sustainable mobility in Satakunta. The project will improve the level of public transport services and offer residents and businesses new mobility options, says Project Manager Juha Sillanpää of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.

Construction work on the project will begin in April 2026, and the project will be completed during 2026.

The goal of building the station is to enable the launch of passenger train service between Rauma, Kokemäki, and Tampere. The new station will improve accessibility to the area, support sustainable mobility, and strengthen Rauma’s position as part of the Western Finland transport network.

NRC Group Finland Oy is the construction contractor. The project’s estimated cost is approximately 3.8 million euros. The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency is the project developer, and the City of Rauma is responsible for the construction costs.
