Lähdepellon pysäköintialueen parannus.

The renovation and expansion work on the Lähdepelto Sports Center parking lot is in its final stages. According to current estimates, the renovation and expansion will be largely completed before the end of this year. For users, this means a safer, more organized, and better-lit area.

“According to estimates, the work will be completed by the end of this year if the weather remains favorable and the onset of winter does not interrupt work on the site. The contractor has made steady progress throughout the summer and fall,” says project engineer Mitri Vahamäki.

Currently, curbstone casting and other stonework are underway at the site. Next up will be the asphalt paving of the raised pedestrian and bike paths and the application of surface markings.

As a result of the renovation and expansion work, the entire courtyard area of the sports center has been converted into a parking lot. The number of parking spaces has been maximized, and traffic arrangements in the area have been streamlined through measures such as one-way entrances and designated routes for different modes of transportation. In addition, the area’s lighting has been upgraded.

The Lähdepello area is actively used by Rauma residents and local sports clubs year-round. Previously, the yard was poorly lit, and its parking and traffic arrangements were disorganized. The sports center has remained open throughout the construction period.

“Users have adapted well to the changing arrangements during the work, even though the situation has been challenging at times,” Vahamäki says gratefully.

The project is being carried out in collaboration with the City of Rauma and Raumalaiskiekkoilun Tuki ry. Oteran Oy is serving as the contractor.
