Mechanical demolition of Rauma’s old swimming hall will begin in April

Demolition work on Rauma’s old swimming hall is progressing. Asbestos removal was completed in late March, and other interior demolition work will be finished in April.
Mechanical demolition will begin in the first half of April and is expected to last until July. The contractor is Totaalipurku Oy. The demolition work will not affect traffic arrangements, but waste transport will take place several times a day during the work.
Rauma’s old swimming hall was completed along Hankkarintie in 1972 and was expanded in the late 1990s. The facilities were decommissioned when the new swimming hall opened on the Kari campus in March 2025.
